VALUES FOR TOWN COUNCIL

Melinda Tunner had a remarkable three-decade career in the demanding corporate financial and sales departments of Allstate Insurance – a Fortune 100 company and one of America’s four largest insurance corporations.

She was responsible for managing programs totaling $2 billion as well as designing and implementing metrics and reporting systems for more than 10,000 Allstate agencies.

Melinda’s values throughout her career have been to foster teamwork and communicate with peers and customers openly and respectfully.

If elected to Town Council, she will continue exercising the values she first learned from her father about being a person of good character with a strong moral compass.

Melinda’s values as your council representative will include:

  1. Honesty and Integrity – She believes integrity is the foundation of good government and goes far in maintaining public trust.
  2. A Good Listener – Being accessible with a desire to understand various concerns, ideas, and perspectives.
  3. Relationship Building – Putting in time and effort to build positive working relationships with fellow council members, town staff, and the greater island community – recognizing that having good relationships can amplify the opportunity to achieve results.
  4. Always Prepared – She will consistently do the research needed to participate meaningfully at council meetings and other town-related settings.
  5. Pragmatic Yet Visionary – She will consider both the short and long-term impacts of her voting decisions and be realistic about policy-making — always considering achievable aspirational goals that will include the overall quality of life on the island.
